Founded in 1938, Celebrity Series presents performances by instrumental and vocal soloists, symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles, dance companies, jazz and popular music performers, folk and ethnic performance groups, and other performing artists in concert halls and theaters across Boston. Guided by a strategic plan, the organization is expanding its programming in Community Engagement. A Community Partnerships Liaison is sought to execute programming-related and administrative details for various community engagement events on behalf of the Celebrity Series.

Summary of Position
In partnership with the Associate Director of Community Engagement, this position is charged with creating a positive experience for community partners and audiences consistent with the organization’s Strategic Plan and Racial Equity goals and implementing community initiatives with a focus on four Arts for All programs. This role develops the vision and infrastructure that enables equitable community engagement and will build long-term relationships using Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) principles with residents, local stakeholders, networks, artists and vendors. Additionally, the liaison connects proactively with other departments to ensure that community activities are fully integrated with our mission and initiates ideas to make our work more relevant, impactful and adapt to changing times.
Duties and Responsibilities
This position serves as a direct liaison between diverse community partners and leaders to attract multicultural audiences and participants for culturally inclusive programming in Boston and Cambridge neighborhoods.
Relationship Building (35% time)
- Develops a portfolio of non-performance-based partner institutions or networks within neighborhoods of Boston and Cambridge, focused on long-term relationship-building using ABCD principles.
- Ensures the department maintains and fosters current partnerships and venues.
- Identifies and mobilizes resources such as associations, neighborhood spaces and cultural traditions for increased involvement.
- Builds and supports communication between multiple stakeholders, including but not limited to, venues, organizations, etc.
- Attends non-CSB community meetings and events to seek out and develop potential future partnerships to attract new audiences.
Community Activities (25% time)
- Facilitates planning with local partners, organizations and networks in support of intergenerational events.
- Develops initiatives to expand resident participation in promoting and developing arts accessibility strategies.
- Conducts active listening and learning to identify potential community partners, leaders and locations for future public performance projects.
- Finds new opportunities to foster more activities in Roxbury for program expansion.
- Manage a new initiative, the Partnership Catalyst Fund, which reinvests resources to community partner projects.
- Represent the organization at community events as needed, in coordination with performance operations and marketing staff.
Audience Services/Marketing (15% time)
- Coordinate orders for the distribution of free and discounted tickets through the Take Your Seat program for local residents.
- Collaborates with marketing staff to develop welcoming strategies and targeted ticket initiatives to help attract and diversify audiences at both free and ticketed events.
- Works with the marketing and programming teams to document events via photos, videos, interviews, audience feedback and surveying tools as needed.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (10% time)
- Identifies and implements new and emerging practices in outreach and engagement.
- Supports efforts to track and evaluate feedback with an ABCD approach through measurable data, metrics, and overall impact and outcomes.
Institutional Collaboration (15% time)
- Fosters teamwork and bridges communication gaps between departments.
- Documents partnership meeting notes, activities and shares information with staff in a timely manner to support transparency.
- Works with Advancement team to provide feedback on grant proposals and information for grant reports.
- Schedules and runs meetings amongst internal and external partners.
- Facilitate proactive communication between venue staff, local partners, and Celebrity Series staff to implement marketing plans.
- Connects with other staff to support cross-departmental projects such as website and email audience engagement initiatives and rsvp systems for free events.
Requirements
- Ideal candidate has a minimum of 3 years of full-time experience in community engagement, community organizing, social work, advocacy or participatory research.
- Direct experience with social services, education, municipal, religious, health, libraries, community centers desirable.
- Experience working in economically disadvantaged and racially diverse communities within Boston (with a particular emphasis on Roxbury), connecting with residents regardless of age, race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity and national origin.
- Self-starter with excellent networking skills and confidence representing the organization.
- Excellent time management skills required, i.e. the ability to adapt to changing priorities, show flexibility, and prioritize competing tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive, effective communication and follow-through are essential for success in this position.
- Strong writing skills, with excellent attention to detail, are highly desirable.
- Multilingual ability (proficient verbal and written communication skills) in multiple languages helpful.
- Familiarity (or willingness to learn) Microsoft One Drive and other database and online platforms.
- Regular office hours (M-F 9am to 5pm) plus evening and weekend hours for CS and partner events. Work is often required off-site, yet within the Greater Boston area.

The Celebrity Series offices are located in Boston’s Back Bay. The building is convenient to public transport and fully accessible. This position allows for the opportunity to work at home remotely (hybrid schedule) with 1-2 days in the office for collaborative work and will frequently spend time on weeknights and weekends attending community events.
